Forest-raised pork comes from pigs that live pretty much like they would if left to their own devices. Our pigs are raised in the woods where they have shelter for sleeping and are free to forage for grass, roots, grubs, and anything else they may dig up. In short, they are free to express their natural “pigness”. In addition to what they forage, we provide them with vegetables from the garden and free access to quality non-GMO feed.

A share is the opportunity to pay a deposit on a live hog, or a half-share is a deposit on 1/2 of a live hog. The hog will be dropped off at the meat processor in your name. The final hanging weight of the animal will be recorded which will be the basis for the final payment. After payment, the hog can be picked up from the processor.

Our live hogs weigh around 250 to 350 pounds at the time of processing. The “hanging weight” will be approximately 165 to 230 pounds, which will be the weight we use to determine the cost of your share.
